對代數和幾何學發展來的微積分(bî-tsik-hun;英語:calculus)是數學真重要的一个分支,微積分用極限做基層,發展二種互補的觀念,一種是微分(bî-hun;英文:derivative),用來處理數量的變化率,比論講函式的斜率 (slope),第二種是積分(tsik-hun;英文:integral),用來處理數量的粒積,比論講一條彎線下跤的面積、行的距離、體積等等,根據微積分基本定理 (fundamental theorem of calculus),微分和積分是顛倒擺的計算。
